Are you feeling nervous about your first summer at camp? Here's some advice from our campers...

“This summer will be my sixth year. For the first three years of camp I would have moments where I felt a little homesick, but then I realized that camp feels like home! I thought to myself, how could I be homesick if I was already home?

Once you go to camp, you'll have an emotional attachment and just cant let it go. People may say that their camp is amazing, but they have no idea what an amazing camp is like until they go to Camp Wise. And I know this may sound crazy but it is amazing how many friends you make at camp, and it's even better when you meet new friends who you don't see everyday at home! I stay in touch with my friends from camp almost every day.

I miss and love camp so much! I can't wait for this summer!”

“Anyone who is nervous about coming to camp for the first time... you don’t have to be! My first year of camp I was a little nervous to go, but I was also very excited. I was planning on only going for 1 week but I loved camp so much I asked Jodi, the camp director, if she could call my parents to ask if I could stay longer. I wanted to stay for as long as possible!

All of the campers and counselors will be there for you always! Good luck and don't be nervous. I can’t wait for camp to start!”

"This will be my 4th year at Camp Wise, the coolest camp ever! I remember my first year at camp and how scared I was to try new things. I don't think I could have survived the summer without my great counselors who were there to support me 100% of the way. At camp, your counselors become your parents; they're always there for you. My counselors helped me so much that before I knew it I was the one who wanted to jet- ski a second time and climb the hard side of the climbing tower! This is why I keep coming back! The support that I get from my counselors and the friends that I’ve made help me have a great summer every year!

I also have learned so much about Judaism and religion after letting myself get into the spirit of camp. Go Camp Wise!”

“Here’s some things that I want new campers to know… you won’t think about home that much, you can still write home, and camp is not forever! If you’re homesick  it will only lasts for a few days at the most, but trust me after a little while everyone at camp will be like your other family!

If you are worried about missing your family, trust me you won’t miss them as bad as you think you will. Of course you will miss them because you love them but you will love everyone at camp including all of the great counselors, the supervisors, and the campers. But most importantly you will really get to love your cabin like your family!

Camp is something I look forward to during the year. Even the day I get home from camp I start to think about what camp is going to be like next year. So trust me, camp will be a blast, don’t worry!”
